Michael Joseph and. Barbara Jean . She married Loren Scott Chambers 28 Dec 1974. They have 2 children: Angela Jean and Tanya Jo . They are divorced. Barbara then married Ricky Joseph Schares 11 Feb 1989. He is employed at John Deere of Waterloo. Barb is employed at the Readlyn Bank where they reside. They have one child: Kenrick John

Rodney Lowelll
attended Waukon High School. He farms with his parents in Glenwood Twp. He has 4
children: Shane, Troy, Elijah and Ethan. Shane Lowell Brenda Jov graduated from Waukon High School in 1980. She married David William McConnell 30 Aug 1980. He is the son of Melvin and Irene McConnell of Bluffton Twp. They farmed until March of 1995 when they had a farm sale. Dave is employed at Camcar-Textron and Brenda at Wapsie Produce. They still live on the farm and raise capons for Wapsie. They have 2 children: Regan William and Sara Ann
. Russell Roy
(Rusty) graduated from Waukon High School in 1985. He is employed at Iowa Rotocast, Inc. in Decorah. He is head of making the molds for the products they make. Russell started working for the company while still in high school. He married Deann Runge 12 Sep 1987. They lived at Walden Pond until 1995 when they were divorced. Rusty’s children are: Devin Duane Berger and Kelsie Ann.
Hagensick, Joe and Lois (Bacon)

Joseph Levi Hagensick was born 4 May 1906 in Clayton Co. He married Lois Charlotte Bacon 14 Nov 1928 at the Congregational Church in McGregor. Lois was born in Clayton Co. 15 Nov 1911 the daughter of Claude and Ruby (Thornton) Bacon. Joe was working on the railroad section crew when they were married.
Joe and Lois farmed on various farms in Allamakee Co. until 1949 when they moved to a farm near Castalia. In 1966 they had a farm sale and moved to Freeport. Joe worked for Black Hawk and Roth construction companies building the library, a dormitory at Luther College and the Winneshiek County Hospital. Lois worked at various jobs and they were custodians at Oneota Country Club for several years. They are celebrating their 67th Wedding Anniversary in 1995.
They had one child: John Levi (Jack)

Hager, Elmer and Marjorie (Kobriger)
Elmer Henry Herman Hager was born 17 May 1907 in Ludlow Twp. He was the youngest of the 12 children born to Henry II and Sophia (Grotegut) Hager: Lydia, Ida, Henry, Fred, William, Sophia, Helen, Otto, Henrietta (Hattie), John, Edward and Elmer. On 25 Jan 1928 Elmer married Marjorie Eleanor Kobriger. She was the daughter of George and
Elsie McMartin Kobriger and was born in Castalia on 2 Feb 1906.
Elmer and Marjorie farmed near Frankville for several years. They then moved into Frankville where Elmer worked at the cheese factory. In 1944 they moved to Castalia where Elmer went to work at the Carnation Milk Plant. Later he operated a Standard Service Station in Castalia, worked for Casten Oil Co. in Postville and did carpentry work and painting.
Marjorie was a school teacher. She taught at a number of one-room country schools and also at DeSales Elementary School in Ossian.
They had 3 children: Robert Elmer, Gerald Gayle and Ronaldo John (Jack).
Elmer died 2 Jan 1979. Marjorie died 9 Apr 1986. They are buried in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
Robert Elmer graduated from Postville High School. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years being stationed in Texas. On 28 Apr 1952 he married Margaret Moellers of Ossian. They have 4 children: Sherry Lee, Sandra Kay, Randy Robert and Robyn Catherine. They farmed near Ridgeway and then lived near Ossian for several years before moving their family to Muscatine, IA. Gerald Gavle (See the Gerald Hager Family elsewhere in this book.) Ronaldo, or Jack, as everyone knows him, graduated from Postville High School. He served in the U.S. Army 2 years being stationed in Germany. He married Dellene Schultz of Postville 1 Jun 1958. Jack was a rural milk hauler before he went to work for Postville Implement where he is still employed. Dellene is an elementary school teacher. She taught at Monona for several years and then at Postville where she is teaching at present. They live in Postville.
Hager, Gerald and Marlys (Meyer)
Gerald Gayle Hager was born in the Postville Hospital. He was the second son of Elmer H. and Marjorie (Kobriger) Hager. Fearing that the doctor would not be able to get to their home in Frankville because of muddy roads Marjorie stayed with her mother in Castalia so she could get to the hospital. They named the baby boy after a nurse named Gayle and her boy friend Gerald. (They hoped for a girl).
Gerald and his brothers, Robert Elmer and Roneldo John (Jack), attended the Frankville School. When Gerald, or Jerry” as he was better known, was in the 6th grade the family moved to Castalia. After finishing the 8th grade there Jerry attended Postville High School graduating in 1950. He was drafted into the U.S. Army for 2 years. He received his honorable discharge in 21 months after serving a tour of duty in Korea.
On 3 Oct 1954 Gerald married Marlys Anna Meyer.
Marlys was born to Harold F. and Elsie Blumhagen Meyer at their farm home southwest of Castalia. She joined three brothers: Arthur William, Cloy Frederick and Duane Harold. Marlys attended Castalia School for 8 grades and then Postville High School graduating in 1953.
Gerald and Marlys began their life together in a home rented from Earl Bachelder on the east edge of Castalia. In 1963 they purchased an 80 acre farm from Ed Kamp 1/2
